BTEC Entry Award in Sport and Active Leisure (Level 3) QCF
General Course Information
This year long BTEC Qualification has been established to give year 11 pupils the opportunity to engage in learning which has relevance to them. The course will provide opportunities for learners to develop a range of skills and techniques, personal skills and attributes essential for sustaining successful performance in their future working lives. On successful completion of this award, pupils will achieve a nationally recognised Entry or Level 1 vocationally related qualification that is specifically designed to develop leadership qualities and knowledge to seek employment within the sporting industry. This award will also enable learners to progress onto further study in general or vocational qualifications.
Assessment and Feedback
This BTEC Entry Award in Sport and Active Leisure is assessed over 24 units. Each unit has specified learning outcomes and assessment criteria. To pass an internally assessed unit, learners must meet all the assessment criteria. Students will need to show evidence through ongoing assessment throughout the academic year, this will be evidenced by keeping a coursework log of their work and sporting experiences. Each assessment criteria will provide information about the evidence that learners must produce.
How Parents and Carers can Help
Take up any opportunities to participate in any sporting activity with a strong emphasis on coaching and leadership – football, athletics, Outdoor Adventurous Activities. Please encourage your child to work hard and be committed to their study and development; which will be essential for successful course completion. Furthermore, please aim to encourage a positive attitude towards their schooling and studies.
