How we use AI to Support our students
At Newham PRUs, we are using artificial intelligence tools in carefully managed ways to enhance learning and deliver more targeted interventions. For example:
-
AI-based platforms help us identify gaps in students’ understanding (for instance, in literacy or maths) by analysing assessment data. This lets teachers focus interventions where they’re needed most.
-
AI also assists in planning: helping teachers generate ideas, differentiation options, or alternative ways to explain difficult concepts, so students with different learning styles can access the curriculum.
We take care to use AI responsibly. All tools are used under teacher supervision, data is handled securely, and human judgment remains at the heart of our decision-making. Our goal is that AI helps supplement and support our teaching—not replace it—so that every student has the opportunity to succeed.
We also comply fully with UK data protection legislation (UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018) and apply a robust risk management framework to ensure AI tools are safe, ethical, and aligned with safeguarding requirements.
